With every passing day and night, the volleyball postseason draws closer for many teams along the Hi-Line. And each week before gets more and more important.

In the District 6C East, Chinook has a stranglehold on the stands, and the Sugarbeeters showed that again last week. Last Tuesday, the Beeters dominated Big Sandy on the road, by scores of 25-16, 25-9 and 25-13.

In the win, Kesley Mathon had five kills and six blocks, while Taylor Neibauer added eight digs and three blocks. The Pioneers got three kills from Jessica Roth in the loss.

Big Sandy tried to rebound on Thursday night, but the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks weren’t having any part of it. The Hawks beat the Pioneers by scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-16, as Khloe Kammerzell tallied nine kills for CJI, while Peyton Hawks had 25 assists and eight aces. Jasmine Genereux led the Pioneers with two aces and four assists.

Thursday night was also a busy one for North Star, the second-place team in the district. The Knights were in Hays to take on the Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds twice, and they dominated both matches.

In the first meeting, North Star won by scores of 25-9, 25-17 and 25-10 with Sheridan Spicher racking up five kills, seven aces and a block. Mystic Farinas also had five kills for the Knights.

In the second outing, North Star again swept by scores of 25-15, 25-9 and 25-7. Spicher and Lily Pedersen had five kills each, while Paij Peterson had 13 assists and Spicher and Katelyn Hansen each had five aces. North Star would complete a perfect weekend with another 6C East win over Box Elder Saturday night in Rudyard.

CJI was also in non-conference play Saturday night, but the Hawks fell short against Great Falls Central. The Mustangs beat the Hawks by scores of 25-11, 25-8, 19-25 and 25-12. Kim Ghekiere had six kills, Kylee Vinson totaled four aces and Jereca Tempel had 15 digs for CJI.

Chinook also stepped out of conference Saturday, and the Beeters got a stern test from the Fort Benton Longhorns. Still, Chinook stayed undefeated with a 25-23, 14-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-6, five-set win.

There was plenty of Class B action last week as well. Harlem started the week by beating HLP, but the Wildcats couldn’t notch a 2B win over rival Wolf Point. On Saturday night, the Wolves downed the Wildcats by scores of 25-12, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-11. Autumn Eagleman had four assists, two aces and two blocks in the loss for the Wildcats.

Things were just as difficult for Rocky Boy, which dropped two conference matches last week.

On Thursday night, the Morning Stars lost to Fairfield by scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-11. Tessa Big Knife had four kills and two blocks for Rocky Boy in the loss. And Saturday night, Cut Bank beat the Morning Stars by scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-15. Jaynah Gopher paced the Morning Stars with three kills, four assists and three digs.
