Sheridan Spicher, North Star Volleyball
The North Star Knights are once again having a strong season on the volleyball court. And while it’s been a total team effort, the Knights are getting some great play from senior middle hitter Sheridan Spicher, especially in the last two weeks. Spicher has led North Star in kills in five of the Knights last six matches, including tallying 10 kills, 22 digs and 12 service aces in last Thursday’s two wins over the Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds in Hays. Spicher averages six kills and two blocks on the season for the Knights. She also plays basketball and runs track and field at North Star.
Trey Murphy, Havre High Football
Even in a narrow defeat, Havre High junior Trey Murphy had a coming out party. His Blue Ponies may have lost a homecoming heartbreaker to Belgrade last Friday night, but Murphy was spectacular. The first-year starting quarterback, who also competes in tennis and basketball for HHS, threw for 308 yards on 25 completions, to go along with one touchdown. Murphy also had no interceptions, and his passing helped Havre erase an early 14 point deficit, and mount a fourth-quarter comeback against the Panthers. Murphy and the Ponies will try and clinch a Class A playoff berth this Friday in Lewistown.
