People bid on an item Saturday during the Chinese auction at the MSU-Northern Alumni Foundation Northern Alumni Auction in the Montana State University-Northern Student Union Building Ballroom. In the event, people offered a dollar and a Northern athlete raised a paddle to show they were bidding. The paddle stayed up until the auctioneer called the number on the paddle, then the athlete would lower it. The bidder could bid another dollar to have the paddle raised again. The person with the paddle raised with the last number called when the timer went off won the item. The Alumni Auction raises money for scholarships at Northern.
