A Montana Attorney General official has confirmed that two Havre police officers are being investigated by the state.
“At the request of the Havre chief of police, the Montana Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting an investigation of allegations against two Havre Police Officers,” Deputy Communications Director Anastasia Burton said in an email.
Havre Police Department Chief Gabe Matosich said this morning that an internal investigation is also being conducted by the police department into the same two officers the DOJ is investigating. He said two officers are on administrative leave, but he could not divulge any further information because the investigation is ongoing and because it’s a personnel issue.
Burton said that once the investigation is complete, the case will be submitted to the Hill County Attorney for review.
Both Burton and Matosich said the names of the officers, nor any further information, could be released until the investigation is complete.
