Hi-Line Football Roundup

Knights, Hawks win key conference games

With the high school football season just about halfway over, many teams are trying to position themselves for the upcoming playoff race. Yet, it was a rough weekend for local teams, as just two of the nine Hi-Line squads in action found the win column.

One of those teams was Chester-Joplin-Inverness, which, for the second straight week, had an offensive explosion. After scoring 72 points in a loss to Great Falls Central a week ago, the Hawks rolled up 58 points in a 58-18 triumph over Simms in Class C 8-man action.

The two Northern C rivals met in Simms Friday night, but CJI running back Evan Dahinden stole the show from the get-go, rushing for 358 yards and scoring a ridiculous seven touchdowns.

Dahinden found the end zone three times as a runner and caught four more passes from Cory Richter, who threw four touchdown passes and also caught another. The Hawks are now 2-3 on the season and are currently tied with Chinook, Power-Dutton-Brady, Centerville and Simms for fourth place in the Northern C.

The Hawks will host Chinook Friday night in Chester.
