Pony golfers swing well over a busy weekend

After an extended break, the Havre High golf teams got very busy this past weekend. And, they did so with plenty of success.

On Saturday, the Blue Ponies hosted a junior varsity tournament at Beaver Creek Golf Course, though all HHS players played the 18-hole tournament, which included teams from Browning and Lewistown.

The Havre High boys team did well, including senior Hondo Owens, who finished first with a 90. Nik Keller was second with a 94, while Tucker Carlson was third with a 96 and Kyle Kirkpatrick was fifth with 102. Tommy Brown rounded out the scoring for the Pony JV’s with a 111, while Marcee Murphy finished an outstanding second with a 128 on the girls side.

The Pony varsity players also showed some strength in their lone trip around BCGC. On the boys side, Dustin Haas led with an 81, while Aden Passon was right behind his teammate with an 84. Kane Gabrielsen shot 84, while Gavin Mosbrucker posted a 92 and Bobby Personett shot 108.

In what was the last home meet for the HHS girls as well, Teagan Fee shot 112, Mackenzie Tilleman scored a 113, while Regan Lammers and Grace Litzinger tied at 117. Kinzee Peterson rounded out the scoring with a 126.

Back on Friday, the Blue Ponies were at Pine Meadows in Lewistown for the Lewistown Invitational, which was a showdown with all of their Central A rivals. And the Pony boys served notice that they are the team to beat in the Central A.

Havre finished first with a team score of 371, led by Haas, who shot 82 to finish second overall. Gabrielsen finished fifth for the ponies with a 91, while Passon earned a Top 10 with a 95. Mosbrucker and Personett rounded out the scoring for the Ponies with 103 and 108, respectively.

The Havre girls also looked sharp in Lewistown, shooting a team total of 434 to finish in second place. Fee led the way with a 103, which was good enough for fourth place individually. But, all five HHS girls finished in the Top 10, with Litzinger fifth at 107, Tilleman sixth at 112, Peterson seventh at 112 and Lammers ninth at 116.

The Ponies will get right back on the course this week with their final two tournaments of the regular season. Havre is in Billings Thursday for the Billings Central Invitational, and Laurel Friday for the Laurel Invite.
