Havre Pride cleanup set for Saturday

Havre Pride day is slated for Saturday, and the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce is asking people from the community to take some time between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to focus on cleaning up part of the community.

Fall is a great time to take another look at the community and do some real cleaning of our town, the Chamber says in a press release.

“A clean community shows Pride and is more inviting than a community that has dirty sidewalks, messy storefronts, dirty windows and littered byways,” the release says. “If each community group or individual gives just a few hours and selects an area in their community to clean, the task at hand does not seem quite as large. Local businesses are being asked to tidy-up around their stores as well as private property owners. This major clean-up is for everyone. Whether you rent, own, or lease your business property or your private residence property, you should take an active part in this community project.

“Havre belongs to all of us,” the release adds. “Let’s work together and make this the best Havre Pride.”

Trash bins will be located at the parking lot at the corner on Fifth Avenue and First Street and at Zip Trip in Highland Park. Trash bags may be picked up at the Chamber office during the week or at the Fifth Avenue dump site.

With recycling becoming a big part of the Havre Pride campaign, Recycle Hi-Line day is also Saturday. Recycle Hi-Line group and their partners at Pacific Steel & Recycling have made special arrangements with Collective Recyclers to fill a semi-tractor trailer with electronics to recycle. The group wants all the e-waste people are ready to recycle — including televisions and computer monitors — and will take them free of charge.

The fall clean up Havre Pride is sponsored by the Havre Pride Committee of the Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Recycle Hi-Line, with other partners including Montana Department of Transportation, the city of Havre and every volunteer who participates.
