HAVRE/HAYS - Ranae Marie Thomas Standing Rock, EE-SIS BI-NEE-SI-THA, Appearing Sun, 35, died Sept. 2 in Billings after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Wake and rosary will be 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the St. Paul's Mission Recreation Center in Hays. The funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at St. Paul's. Burial will be in the Thomas Family Cemetery.

Ranae Marie was born in Fort Belknap, Montana, Oct. 10, 1980, daughter of Frank Thomas and Veronica Stiffarm. She was raised and educated in Havre. She attended college in Missoula and Billings, Montana, and afterward she returned to Havre. She met Brent Standing Rock in Billings in 2009, they were married in 2012 in Spokane, Washington. Together they had eight children, including three sets of twins. She loved being a mother. She worked as a merchandiser. In her younger years she played basketball. She enjoyed going to powwows and loved traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Brent Lyle Standing Rock of Box Elder, Montana; father, Frank Thomas of Havre, Montana; mother, Veronica Stiffarm of Billings, Montana; stepmother, Linda Henry; grandmother, Annabelle Thomas of Havre; daughters, Morningstar Thomas of Havre and Rena, Daija, Railah, Sakiya, Echo and Aviyanah Standing Rock, all of Billings; sons, Dontei and Tarek Standing Rock of Billings, brothers, Jordan Thomas of Havre and Gregory Thomas of Billings; aunts and uncles, Eric (Jacque) Thomas, Howard Thomas, Louis Thomas, Judy Thomas, Myrtle Thomas, Doris Thomas, Frank Thomas Bear Cloud, Rhonda Horn, Joan Rowland, Joe Sam Scabby Robe and Dusty Buck; as well as numerous other family, and friends, too many to list.
