Blue Pony golfers return to the links Sept. 9
The Havre High golf teams had a busy week last week, playing in Bozeman Monday, before setting right back out on the road Thursday.
However, after a tough day at East Glacier Golf Course, the Ponies will have a break from competition .
HHS played its fourth tournament of the season last Thursday, the Browning Invitational, and, in some ways, the Ponies struggled a bit. Still, the Pony boys finished the tourney by placing second with a 359 team score. The Great Falls High Bison finished first in the tournament, which was composed of both junior varsity teams from Great Falls, as well as Havre, Browning and Lewistown.
Individually, senior Dustin Haas paced the Ponies with a round of 84, finishing in second place overall. Kane Gabrielsen was fourth with an 85 and Aden Passon was seventh with a 90. Gavin Mosbrucker shot 100 and Bobby Personett shot 103 to round out the scoring for the Blue Ponies.
On the girls side, the Ponies finished third with a 431 team total, as Lewistown and Browning placed ahead of HHS. Individually, sophomore Teagan Fee posted a fifth-place finish with a 101, while Mackenzie Tilleman was seventh with a 104 and Kinzee Peterson was 10th with a 109. Both Grace Litzinger and Regan Lammers shot 117 for the Ponies.
Havre will now have a break until Sept. 9 when the Ponies travel to Lewistown for the Lewistown Invitational. Havre also hosts a tourney at Beaver Creek Golf Course Sept. 10.
That stretch of golf starts the busiest time of the season for the Blue Ponies. After Lewistown and BCGC, Havre heads to tough tournaments in Billings and Laurel, and those two events will help the Ponies prep for the postseason, which starts Sept. 23 with the Central A meet, back at East Glacier.
