Reception set for Sept. 9
Press Release
Artitudes Gallery presents "Furryus," artwork by Jim Goebel, for the months of September and October.
Goebel grew up in Havre and attended Montana State University-Northern where he took classes in drafting and art.
He is participating in the Montana Artrepreneur Program, or MAP, and is active in the arts in Butte, where he is involved in the Spirit of Columbia Gardens Carousel Project, designing horses and making patterns for carvers, helping with construction of the carousel in Stodden Park in Butte. He is also creating coloring books of the carousel horses, one for children and one for adults.
Using art as therapy, the main focus of Gobel's art is "to accurately render each subject and to reveal to the viewer the special shapes, colors, and textures in each piece," he said.
Goebel works in oil, acrylic, graphite and colored pencil, depicting hot rods, wildlife, landscapes, antiques and old things. An artist reception will be held Sept. 9, 6 to 8 p.m. at Artitudes Gallery on the upper level of the Atrium, 220 3rd Ave. People are invited to join the co-op members for refreshments, music and a chance to meet Goebel.
