Editor,
On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and the Town Square Committee we would like to thank all the bands that made this summer’s Sounds on the Square a huge success.
The time the 10 bands dedicated to each Wednesday evening in the months of June, July and August shows their commitment to the Sounds on the Square and to the community.
As with so many activities that take place in Havre, Sounds on the Square wouldn’t happen without the volunteer help and the financial generosity of those believing in keeping Havre a great place. Thanks to NorthWestern Energy for their generosity these past 12 years through your sponsorship of Sounds on the Square. We also, thank the Sleeter Fund for supporting Sounds on the Square for the past nine years. Their willingness to support community activities like the summer music series at the Town Square is very much appreciated.
Friends gather for a light dinner, others see friends they have not visited with in a while, all fulfilling the original goal of the Town Square Committee, “to create a gathering place for the community.” It is heartwarming to stroll through the Square seeing community folks singing along to the familiar tunes and some finding partners to dance to the rhythm of the music. Many I see have supported the summer music concerts since they were started in 2005 with Tunes @ Noon soon after the Town Square was completed.
Thank you to Joe Ross for making 10 Wednesdays this summer so much fun with great music. Joe’s continuing commitment to make Sounds on the Square a fun summer event for all is unsurpassed. Joe’s efforts to showcase the many area bands provides attendees a wonderful assortment of local music talent.
Thank you also to everyone who supported each band. And, a very special thanks to the bands: The Milk River Band, China Water Symbol, The Hi-Line Pickers, Tales from the Ghost Town, Only for a Moment, The Plowed Under Band, Swamp Goat, Blind Luck, ROC Band and Cheeseboot for another great summer of music. We are already looking forward to next summer’s Sounds on the Square. See you then!
