Hello God...It's me Mara: You are special

You know, Lord, a commentary saved from ages ago, explains our value in a simple way, expressing how special You made all of us. Commentary follows; source and author are unknown.

“A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of about 200 folks, he asked, ‘Who would like this $20 bill?’ Hands started going up. He said, ‘I’d like to give this bill to one of you, but first, let me do this.’ He proceeded to crumple up the bill. Then he asked, ‘Who still wants it?’ Hands were up in the air.

“‘Well,’ he replied, ‘what if I do this?’ He dropped the bill and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. Then he picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. ‘Now, who still wants it?’ Hand still went into the air.

“‘My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we’re worthless, but — no matter what has happened or what will happen — you will never lose your value, dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who love you, and you are priceless in the sight of Jesus, our Savior.”’

Psalm 36:7, NIV, “How priceless is Your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.”

An additional thought: May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy. You are special — don’t ever forget it!
