Body of 19-year-old recovered from Fresno Reservoir

The body of 19-year-old Anthony James Herbold of Havre was recovered from Fresno Reservoir Monday at 4:23 p.m.

County officials released the name this morning.

A press release issued Tuesday by the Hill County Sheriff’s Office said someone called 911 Monday at 2:21 p.m. to report that a man who’d gone swimming with his friends went underwater and never resurfaced.

“The Hill County Sheriff’s Office, Havre Fire Department and volunteers from Hill County Search and Rescue all responded to the scene,” the press release says.

The release says the body was found two hours later about 20 feet offshore in about 15 feet of water.

“Foul play is not suspected at this time and the cause of death is currently under investigation,” the release says

The body has been sent to the Montana State Crime Lab.
