After 21 years at its U.S. Highway 2 East location in Havre near Pacific Recycling, E-1 Towing & Auto Repair plans on moving to a new location.
Ken Erickson, general manager of E-1 Towing, said he and his eight employees will be relocating from the nearly 10,000 square foot building they own at 1715 U.S Highway 2 East to the now-vacant building owned by Halliburton at 3815 Highway 2 East on the hill outside of town.
“We’ve been looking for a place to move to better service our customers for a couple years now,” Erickson said.
He said that the new facility will be nearly equal in size to the building that E-1 Towing currently resides in and owns, but will boast additional parking for consumers.
Erickson said that with such tight parking and their current building being on a high-traffic thoroughfare, getting in and out of the parking area can be inconvenient if not dangerous.
The new facility will also have larger doors, which Erickson said will allow he and his employees to work on bigger machinery.
He said they have not packed up yet and there is no target date in mind for the move, as a crew is now making much-needed repairs to the new facility’s doors and roof.
Erickson said because they own the building they are currently in their is no rush to move and that they will sell it once they are moved into the new location.
E-1 Towing was started years ago and has relocated several times since.
It occupied a small empty building at 1515 Main St. in its first year. In 1995, the company moved to another location at 1034 32nd Ave East before settling in their present location.
Erickson said that during those years, they took their building from being nearly uninhabitable to being in the condition of a new building by installing new windows, a new roof and countless hours of other repairs.
He said having put in that work makes it hard to part with the building they have called home for more than two decades.
