In 1946, Daniel Morse swept Doris off her feet and they were married in Havre. The couple purchased a farm north of Havre, where they raised their 10 children. Doris supported Dan during his 14 years as county commissioner, attending many events, and helping on the farm while he was working for the people of Hill County. They continued to farm there until Dan passed away in 1990. In 1996, Doris moved to Havre.
She enjoyed quilting, and loved to knit. She knitted constantly and was a member of knitting groups. Each Christmas every child and grandchild were recipients of her knitted slippers and washcloths. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and Circle. She was a 4-H leader for many years and volunteered at the Feed My Sheep soup kitchen.
Doris was a fantastic cook, cooking over 300,200 meals for her family, however she always burned the buns. She loved time with her family, and summer gatherings at the cabin in the Bear Paws was mandatory attendance. She supported her children and grandchildren in their sports and school events, and loved to travel. Recently, she picked up solitaire and word search and it became a constant pastime.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Morse in 1990; her grandchildren Clayton Morse and Travis Gomke; her parents, John and Amelia Frey; her brothers Edwin, John (Jack), Ray, and Clarence Frey; and her sisters Loretta Clapper and Nora Vosen.
She is survived by her children, Judy (Dan) Little of Whitefish, Jerry (Jenny) Morse and Bruce (Laurie) Morse, all of Havre, Bernice (Lynn) Stilger of Libby, Rodney (Janet) Morse of Columbia Falls, Rodger (Margie) Morse of Havre, Melody Morse of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Marcia Morse and Lee (Jackee) Morse, all of Havre, and Les (Debbie) Morse of Juneau, Alaska; her 23 grandchildren; her 32 great-grandchildren; her brothers Floyd and Dennis Frey; her sister Delores Tudor; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, and nephew.
