Bear Paw Meats on 5th Avenue has been chosen as the Yard of the Month by the Bullhook Blossoms Garden Club.
Ashley Buck, manager of Bear Paw Meats, has bought some outdoor beauty to that area of Havre.
She has taken a bare space next to the alley of the store and turned it into a pleasant mix of flowers and vegetables. Tomatoes, peppers, carrots and broccoli are planted in the raised beds. Rhubarb, strawberries and raspberries grow nearby.
Always ecologically minded, she re-uses old containers in unique ways as planters, tea kettles and old wine boxes hold flowers in the entryway.
Petunias and snapdragons are blooming in an old double stone laundry tub at the front of the store.
Irises and tall grasses border the garden and the street,
Inside she keeps alive her grandmother's violets.
One can tell at a glance that she has a green thumb and an eye for design.
Between her upcoming October wedding plans, running the store and delivering meat to many Montana cities, she still finds enjoyment in tending to these gardens.
