Cree was born on Oct. 12, 1944, in Fort Belknap, the son of Tom and Agnes (Descharme) Doney. He was raised in Zortman. He attended school through his junior year and then joined the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, Cree then worked for numerous ranches, one being the Robinson ranch.

Cree worked many odd jobs including ranch hand, construction worker, carpenter, truck driver for the BIA Roads, firefighter and numerous others. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting with his special nephews, Zane, Travis and Tracy, fishing, rodeos, spending time with his grandkids and, best of all, BS-ing.

In 1971, Cree married Linda Bell, and this marriage produced two sons, Jay and Joe Doney.

Years later, Cree met Dixie Brown and had a daughter, his baby girl.

The remainder of Cree's years were spent with Susan Altona Doney, the love of his life.

Cree has many great memories and accomplishments, from serving on the Little Shell Tribal Council, to roping at rodeos. He shared all of these memories with numerous friends and family members.

Cree is survived by his wife, Susan (Altona) Doney; his daughter, Jana Doney; his sons, Jay (Janice) Doney and Joe (Shawnda) Doney; his brother Robert "Bones" (Margaret) Doney; his sisters, Kathleen (Melvin) Mart, Myrna Cochran, Ramona "Doll" Doney, Penny Doney, Martha Green, Teresa Erickson, all his LaFountain family.

Thank you, Joe, for all the love and care you gave your dad in his final days.

Cree is preceded in death by his father, Tom Doney; his mother, Agnes Doney; and his brothers, Matthew, Steve, Charles, Alvin and Wallace Doney.
