Michael T. Belcourt Sr., 71, was called home on July 11, 2016, to join his father, Edward; mother, Pearl (Wells); brothers, Gary and Harvey; and sisters, Carol and Janice.
A true soldier who fought a long, hard battle is now being led home by an angel of our Heavenly Father.
Mike was born in Lewistown, Montana, on July 27, 1944, to Edward and Pearl Belcourt. He came to Havre as a baby and attended Havre schools until his senior year when the family moved to California. There, he attended Rose Mead High School. He attended college and received a degree in electrical engineering and electric motor control.
Mike served in the U.S. Army and National Guards from 1963 to 1969, being honorably discharged in 1969.
As a boy, in Havre he worked at Garrahan's Greenhouse. In his early adult years, he worked as a carpet layer and for Phillips Electric Motor Service in Long Beach, California. Returning to Havre, he worked for Triggs Electric from 1972 to 1976, moving on to work at Rocky Boy as a carpenter and firefighter from 1976 to 1977. In 1977, he went to work for Montana Power Company, which later became NorthWestern Energy, retiring in December 2001, when his battle with his many illnesses began.
In 1969, Mike married Rita Williams in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and to their marriage was born Michelle and Michael Jr. The couple divorced in 1980.
On July 27, 1990, he married Kathy (Cech) Wynn, the love of his life, and her children, Darin and Shawn became a part of the family circle.
His first love was his wife, children and grandchildren, then came softball, horse racing, traveling, golf and fishing. He lived life to its fullest, and never lost his sense of humor.
With family being the center of his life, he leaves behind Kathy Belcourt of Havre, his loving wife of more than 25 years; his daughter, Michelle (Kieran) Conley of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; his son, Michael (Crystal) Belcourt Jr. of Kuna, Idaho; Kathy's children, Darin (Laurie) Wynn of Cut Bank, Montana, and Shawn (Kasey Maschoff) Wynn of Decatur, Illinois; his grandchildren, Devin, Madison, Emily, Laurel, Makayla, Lacy, Michael III, Nate, Spencer, Jayden and Shelby; his "special girls," Angie DiSalvo and her daughters, Devin and Brooke of Big Sandy; his brothers, Kenny of Spokane, Washington, Ronnie of Havre, Marvin of Great Falls and Larry (Georgette) of California; his sisters, Donna (Jeff) Sharp of Las Vegas, Nevada, Darla Friede of Box Elder and Evelyn Koop of Havre; his sisters-in-law, Marcia (Tony) Malsam of Havre, Barbara (George) Neilson of Spokane, Washington, and Karen (Dick) Reich of Carson City, Nevada; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and his special long-time friends, Pat, Tana and Mikhala.
Peace be with you, my love. You can now rest in peace and forever in our hearts.
