Havre gets a second taxi service

People in the Havre area who are in need of a ride now have a new option.

Aneta Jones of Havre, a first-time business woman, has launched Hi-Line Taxi.

It will join Town Taxi as one of two taxi service providers in the city of Havre.

Before launching the new taxi service, Jones worked for five years with the Center for Mental Health, where her duties included driving patients to doctor's appointments and errands.

Jones said she first got the idea to go into business for herself after she was laid off from her job at Center for Mental Health Services when need for transport service slowed down.

"I thought, 'Well. I've been driving people around, so I should start a taxi service,'" Jones said.

Since she launched the service Tuesday, Jones said she has picked up about 45 customers in her black Chevrolet Impala.

Though she said she doesn't rule out hiring additional drivers if business increases and expanding her hours to include nights, she is the sole operator and driver of the service. Her hours are 7:30 a.m to 6 p.m.   Jones charges passengers $4 when they are picked up and a dollar per mile after that.

She said that she is willing to take passengers as far east as Chinook and as far west as the Havre City-County Airport.

For more information or to hire her for a ride, people can call Jones at 399-1200.
