Jerry Donoven found in Fresno Reservoir
The body of Jerry Donoven, 54, of Havre was found in Fresno Reservoir at about 9:30 this morning, ending a three-day search by volunteers and law enforcement.
Hill County Sheriff Don Brostrom would say only the body was found "quite a ways" from where Donoven's boat was found. Searchers found the boat floating in the north end of Fresno Reservoir Friday.
The body was found by a volunteer, one of more than 100 who helped law enforcement conduct the search, the sheriff said.
Brostrom said the family had been notified this morning, and the body was being removed.
The discovery of the body ended an extensive search that began with the discovery of Donoven's boat Friday. People began looking for him after he did not return from a Thursday boat outing.
Volunteers with boats and jet skis gathered at the Kremlin Bay landing area, where personnel from the sheriff's office, Hill County Search and Rescue, U.S. Border Patrol, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, and Montana Highway Patrol worked together.
Brostrom said Search and Rescue had sent divers into certain areas.
Brostrom said Donoven's white and blue motorized boat was found in shallow waters in the north end of the lake, near a section filled with willows. Brostrom said the area is thick and marshy, and Donoven may have run into some trouble and become disoriented. He said Donoven has some medical issues that may have played a role in his disappearance.
Bostrom was overseeing more than 40 boats that combed Fresno Reservoir for Donoven over the weekend.
People brought beverages, doughnuts and other food, as well as boats and jet skis.
Jim and Anita Stevenson closed their Walleye Tavern Sunday and catered lunch for the volunteers. Someone brought a truckload of Gatorade.
