Flags to be flown at half-staff on Monday

Gov. Steve Bullock has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff on Monday to honor Sgt. David Thatcher, one of the last remaining members of the Doolittle Raiders, who died June 22.

Bullock said Thatcher was "a humble and quiet hero from Bridger, Montana, who served as a member of the courageous Doolittle Raiders and helped change the course of World War II."

“Sergeant Thatcher is a heroic reflection of his generation and will forever serve as a constant reminder, especially when our flag is at half-staff, of all those who have answered the call to service, in defense of the freedom and liberty we so love," the governor said.
