Local sportsman’s groups in the Havre area showed support or Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks game wardens by providing monetary donations toward a new simulated wildlife decoy.
“The decoy we are currently using has been around for nearly 20 years and it was definitely time for an upgrade,” said Havre-area game warden Andy Matakis.
The groups that donated money include the Bear Paw Bowmen, Havre Trap Club, Bullhook Bottoms Black Powder Club, Havre Rifle and Pistol Club and the Hi-Line Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
“The willingness by our local groups to support having a new wildlife decoy built for the Havre area is really a great feeling,” Matakis said. “We want to thank each organization for supporting Fish, Wildlife and Parks enforcement efforts to prevent poaching in the area.”
There are only a few companies in the country that make wildlife decoys, and the new decoy will be made in Montana.
