Havre area parents interested in having their children learn Spanish have until Thursday to sign them up for a Children's Language Learning Lab organized by the Montana State University-Northern Office of Diversity Awareness and Multicultural Programs.
Christina Estrada-Underwood, director of the office, said the lab, which is in its first year, will be for children from kindergarten to grade five.
The lab will run from Monday, June 27 to Thursday, June 30, and introduce children to the basics of Spanish language. It also will foster an understanding of Spanish-speaking culture through crafts, music and other activities.
The lab will meet the first three days from 9 a.m. to noon.
Parents will be invited to a multicultural presentation on the last day, where children will sing songs in Spanish and do a show and tell.
People have until 2 p.m. Thursday to register at Northern's Multicultural Center in Room 308 of Cowan Hall.
Those interested can also request an application by contacting the Multicultural Center at 265-3589 or by email at [email protected].
The price for admission into the program is $30 for one child with $5 discounts available for each additional child.
All proceeds will go toward future programs hosted by the center.
