Pastor's Corner: God is able to set you free

“His incomparably great power for us who believe”

— Ephesians 1:19

There are potentially a number of times in our walk with Jesus that we forget about the power of God. God is all-powerful. The only thing that I can think of that God cannot do is lie.

He spoke and created the heavens and the earth. He spoke light into existence as well as the sky, water, dry ground, plants, trees, stars, the sun, the moon, living creatures and man.

You and I were created in the image of God. If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ then you are adopted into the family of God. The Bible is clear that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead we will be saved.

The resurrection of Jesus is what makes our religion different from other religions. Jesus is the Way. God had a plan when man refused to obey Him in the garden and 2,000 years ago Jesus fulfilled that plan.

Jesus was crucified, died, buried and resurrected. He ascended into heaven. God sent us the Holy Spirit to take up residence in those who believe in Jesus. The power of God is on the inside of each believer.

The Bible teaches us that we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us. We are also encouraged to walk according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh.

So what difference does this make in our lives? We are commanded to lay hands on the sick and heal them. We are told that if anyone is sick amongst us that they are to call for the elders of the church and that the elders are to anoint the sick with oil and that the prayer offered in faith shall make the sick well.

Havre has a reputation as a spiritually tough climate. Mark 6:5-6 states, “He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith.”

I believe that prayer offered in faith is the currency of the Kingdom of God. Why not believe for miracles and healings in our part of Montana? We are often quick to search out help from other sources before we go to the Source. We have not because we ask not. It is true that sometimes we ask with the wrong intent. Perhaps this week we could believe God for the things that we desire. I think that many of us have settled for less than His best. If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts. Just because we haven’t seen the number of miracles or healings that we desire does not mean that they cannot be manifested today. The resurrection of Jesus and the gift of the Holy Spirit living inside each believer is the power to make a difference in the lives of all of us.

If you are struggling with an addiction, a relationship issue, a financial problem or anything else, God is able to set you free, work reconciliation and meet all of your needs. I would suggest that you search the Bible, find the specific promises that pertain to your situation, and then do what He asks you to do while believing Him to show Himself faithful.

May God grant us the desires of our hearts as we delight ourselves in Him.
