Kiera Miller, 2016 graduate of North Star High School in Rudyard, has been named the 2016 Tim Langel Memorial Scholarship recipient.
Miller is the North Star Student Council president, a National Honor Society member, placed fifth at the State Class B/C Speech and Drama meet and has been involved in numerous drama productions.
Miller has volunteered more than 100 hours at the Rudyard Depot Museum during the summer, worked at food banks, volunteered at youth basketball and volleyball camps, participates in her church youth group and other community activities.
In addition, during her high school career she participated in volleyball, basketball, FCCLA and Skills USA.
Miller plans to attend Montana State University Bozeman to study human health and development and eventually become a licensed clinical professional counselor. She is the daughter of David and Julie Miller of Gildford.
This $500 scholarship is funded by Alberta Langel and family along with friends. Tim Langel, son of Richard and Alberta Langel, was a 1984 graduate of Blue Sky High School who died in a traffic crash. Each year the Langel family honors Tim's memory, as he was a student who didn't care about running with the "in" crowd, who worked hard to get along with others, and who remembered the Golden Rule.
This scholarship honors students who show their potential to become assets in their future communities.
