KFBB’s ABC/FOX Montana will be launching a “Hometown Proud” tour in June and Havre will be the first stop, June 3.
KFBB News Director Deyja Charles said the news station wants to highlight communities in the area that don’t get enough attention.
Charles said the entire 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts that day will be filmed from Fort Assiniboine.
KFBB will be doing stories about historic Havre favorites like Havre Beneath the Streets, the Wahkpa Chu’gn Buffalo Jump “and even the beginning of KFBB and its connection to Ed Buttrey,” Charles said.
Anna Brumley, whose husband, John Brumley, discovered the buffalo jump, said the news station came by and took a lot of information about the jump. Brumley said the buffalo jump is the “best preserved buffalo jump in the state of Montana.”
“They have opened up the ground and left what is there and you can see the artifacts as Native Americans left them,” Brumley said.
The point of the entire tour, Charles said, is to “highlight Montana, in all its glory, because it really is a special place.”
