Havre native Lauren Scofield will be vying for the title of Miss Montana 2016 June 11 in Glendive.
Scofield is a 2012 graduate of Havre High School and lives in Helena, where she recently graduated with a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Carroll College.
The platform issue she will be endorsing is "Planting the Seeds of STEM," which provides students of all ages with exposure to engaging 21st century concepts in science, technology, engineering and math.
The mission of her platform is to present motivating and interesting STEM ideas to students.
With this exposure to and experience with STEM subjects, students will benefit academically and, hopefully, be inspired to gain a deeper knowledge in these areas, creating intellectual growth - personally and globally.
If Scofield is successful in her quest for the crown, it would have special meaning to her because her aunt Kamala "Kami" Compton held the title of Miss Montana 30 years ago.
Scofield is the daughter of Kim and Vince Scofield and the granddaughter of Havre resident Jupe Compton.
