Kaitlyn Bird, Fort Benton Track
The Fort Benton Longhorns nearly dethroned the North Star Knights at last week's District 9C girls track meet. And a huge reason why was Kaitlyn Bird's performance. Bird won the 800 meters, the 1,600 meters and the 300-meter hurdles in the 9C championships, while also running on both of the Longhorn's winning relay teams. The performance was indeed an impressive one by Bird, who has also been a basketball standout at Fort Benton.
Justin May, CJI Track
Chester-Joplin-Inverness senior Justin May is used to putting on a show. And, one last time, he did so in Havre at the District 9C track meet last Friday. May, who is headed to Montana Tech to play football, won five events Friday, including the 200 meters, the 300 hurdles, the long jump, the triple jump and the javelin. May, who is also an All-State performer in basketball, will look to do it again at this week's Northern C meet in Great Falls.
