Foundation lists Havre High scholarship winners

The Havre Public Schools  Education Foundation has announced the recipients of the 19 scholarships the foundation manages and administers with funds provided by 13 generous donors.

This year the foundation is pleased to have a new scholarship. The Wells Lamey Blue Pony Pride Scholarship offered by Wells’ family in his memory. Wells son Kevin Lamey presented a $500 scholarship to each Dani Wagner and Nate Rismon.

Coach Scott Filius presented one of his wrestlers, Logan Pleninger, with the $1,000 Blewett Wrestling Scholarship.

The $1,000 Alfred and Catherine Bradbury Memorial Scholarship was presented to Nate Rismon by Cathy Bradbury.

Dani Wagner and Nate Rismon were each presented a $500 scholarship from Trudy Currie for the Walt Currie Memorial Scholarship.

Two $500 Gene Gabriel Memorial Scholarships were presented by Jim Gabriel, one to Ashley Hofland and one to Nate Rismon.

The Havre Public Schools Education Foundation President Todd Hanson presented Logan Pleninger and Megan Smith each with a $500 scholarship.

The $500  Howard Miller Memorial Scholarship was presented by Scott Miller and Sally Miller to Dani Wagner.

Friends Of Music member Sharon Dolph  presented the $1,000 choir scholarship to Emily Simonson and the $1,000 band scholarship to Megan Smith.

Randi Gabrielsen received the $2,000 Dr. James and Kay Elliott Memorial Scholarship.

P.E.O. AZ member Paulette Cronk presented a $500 scholarship to each Megan Smith and Kailee Collins.

The $750. C. Lowell & Vivian D. Purdy Memorial Scholarship was presented to Rainey Stoner.

Stoner also was awarded the $750 Sue Swan Community Service Scholarship, presented by Sue Swan.

The $750. Sons Of Norway Heritage Scholarship was presented to Kailee Collins.

The scholarships were presented immediately following the Havre High School Academic Awards May 9 in the Havre High gymnasium with the entire student body in attendance.

Following the ceremony, scholarship recipients and their families and the scholarship sponsors were honored with lunch in the high school library.

The Havre Public Schools Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization formed to encourage and support excellence in education by raising, accumulating and disbursing funds to enhance and support educational opportunities for the students of Havre public schools. Nine directors oversee foundation activities.

Officers are Hanson; Rick Sedahl, vice-president; Becky Toth, secretary; and Patti Nault, treasurer; with members Leonard Deppmeier and Jack Maloughney. Superintendent Andy Carlson and school board member Ed Hill serve as ex-officio directors,

Cheryl Morse is executive director.
