Huebsch awarded Almas scholarship

Havre High School senior Madison Huebsch has been awarded the Dr. David and Gloria Almas Scholarship to Montana State University-Northern.

Huebsch, the daughter of Bill and Tracy Huebsch, has a 3.5 GPA and is very active in extracurricular activities and participates in volleyball, tennis, Key Club, PASS, ReAct and Leadership High School.

She also participates in many community activities.

The scholarship is an annual endowed monetary scholarship and laptop computer given in memory of lifelong Havre residents David and Gloria Almas.

David Almas' father, Dr. Joseph S. Almas, started his medical practice in Havre in the 1890s, and David Almas, a second-generation Havreite, continued his medical practice and was one of the founders of the Havre Medical Clinic.

Both David and Gloria Almas were very actively involved in Havre community activities.

Their son, Dr. James P. Almas, who lives in Jackson, Mississippi, and daughter, Emily, participated in the selection of the successful candidate

MSU-Northern Alumni Foundation Scholarship Committee ex-officio members are Gail Rader and Renelle Braaten.
