The website http://www.myneighborinneed.org/havre provides local citizens a way to ask for help from their community and a way for the community to give back.

Recently Fulfilled Needs

“Dear My Neighbor in Need, I am disabled, elderly man who is in desperate need of a used love seat as mine is so worn out it is unusable. The cushions are so flat you can see the metal of the frame and sitting on it cause pain. Thank you very much.”

My Neighbor in Need response:

“The neighbor in need called our main office in Great Falls. He provided a copy of his lease and we were able to complete the application. His need was vetted and approved. It went live on http://www.myneighborinneed.org and was featured in the Havre Daily News. In a short period of time a caring donor contacted us and offered to fulfill his need by providing a used/clean love seat. Our friends at Valley Furniture picked it up and delivered for free. Thank you goes out to the caring donor and our friends at Valley Furniture.”

“Dear My Neighbor in Need, I am a disabled woman living on a very low income and I have no family in Montana. I am in need of used, clean or new queen sleep system with a mattress and box spring. I am currently sleeping on an air mattress that has a small leak and every morning I wake up on the cold, hard floor. Thank you for considering my request.”

My Neighbor in Need response:

“Her need was approved, it was posted online and it appeared in the Havre Daily News. In a couple of weeks, a generous Havre donor contributed $300 so we could purchase a new bed from Valley Furniture. The bed was delivered and she is now getting a great night sleep thanks to an anonymous donor. You Rock!”

People who would like to help can visit http://www.myneighborinneed.org and click on the Cities We Serve tab, then click on the city where they would like to help, then click on the Current Needs tab. Find a need request and click on the Fulfill This Need button. Or people can call 406-301-3919 for Havre or 406-357-8080 for Chinook and say how they would like to help. Financial need donations are made directly to the business that will fulfill the need.

People can send financial donations to My Neighbor in Need, 525 Central Ave., Great Falls, MT 59401. Make checks payable to My Neighbor in Need–Havre for help in Havre. Donations are tax deductible.

People can request help at http://www.my neighborinneed.org by completing the Request a Need form and clicking submit. People without Internet access can call 406-301-3919 and can pick up an application at the HRDC office at 2229 5th Ave. in Havre.

The operational costs are underwritten by sponsorship from Montana Farmers Union and our Partners in Dignity.
