City of Havre crews have begun enforcing the city's nuisance weed ordinance
Property owners who have grass or weeds on their lawn, or around buildings, that are eight inches or taller will receive a notice from the city saying they have 10 days to cut them.
If property owners fail to comply, the city will cut the weeds or grass.
Property owners will be charged for the work. The city can then add the costs onto the property tax bill of the landowner, the city said.
Owners used to get a notice every time their grass grew too tall. But the city changed that rule, and now issues only one notice per year. If the grass grows back, it will be cut down every time and property owners will be charged every time.
