Bearly Square Quilting, a small retailer of quilting material and supplies at 417 1st St, is preparing to move to a new location.
Wendy Gerky, the store's owner said they will be relocating to 109 1st St. W. The spot was home to 15 West, a bar and casino that closed in January.
Gerky said she decided in March to move to the new spot.
"We're still going to offer everything we offer; it's just in a different location," eerky said.
She said the store will still carry the same products and continue to offer quilting classes and assistance for those making quilt patterns that range from baby to king size. å
Bearly Square also sells and repairs sewing machines.
The new location will share a parking lot with NAPA Auto Parts, Subway and Sherwin Williams Paints and is situated across from Town Pump Food Store.
Gerky said she hopes being in an area surrounded by businesses that generate lots of customers will increase the flow of foot traffic to her store.
"I do like having that atmosphere, of having those pretty active businesses around you," She said.
She said the new location does not have åçççç and will therefore be more accessible to customers.
Contractors are renovating the new site, Gerky said, and she and her two employees hope they can begin moving by the end of the month.
The relocation will not be the first for Bearly Square.
"We joke here at the store and call ourselves the traveling quilt shop," she said.
Gerky said she first set up shop in the Atrium Mall in 2008, before moving to 39 1st St. three years later.
She said the business moved to the roughly 4,800-square-foot location about a year and a half ago for the extra space.
Gerky said she will be renting out the store's 12-by-5 foot long arm sewing machine to customers for a fee.
More information can be found on the store's Facebook page.
Gerky said Bearly Square has begun developing a website, but it is still under construction.
