It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Becky (Ethel) DeHart. Becky passed away Sunday with family by her side. Always one to have the last word Becky wrote her own message she wanted to share with everyone.
Becky (Ethel) DeHart passed away April 24, 2016. I was born on Jan. 8 to Henry and Mae (Mader) Beckman in Green Creek, Idaho, 1928. I attended grade school and high school in the Green Creek and Winona area. I graduated in 1946 from Kamiah High School. I attended Saint Alphonsus School of nursing in Boise, Idaho, and received my LPN license. I then went on to work as a nurse in several hospitals over the next 25 years. While I was working as a nurse, I moved my family to Montana in 1967 and continued working as a nurse at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.
When I decided I was finished with nursing I moved my family to Maudlow, Montana, and worked as a certified lumber grader at the saw mill until it closed down. When the mill closed I moved my family down the road to Manhattan, Montana, and worked at the Oasis until I retired in 1986.
When I was not working I spent much of my life fishing, hunting, and gardening. I was also an avid race car fan and spent many Friday nights at the races.
I am survived by my sisters Sylvia Hayhurst, Betty Homan and Carol Potter, and my brother, Don Beckman. Then there are my five wonderful children. Kay Payne of Bozeman, Montana, Saundra Schwindt of Belgrade, Montana, Dixie (Zane) Geer of Chinook, Montana, Don (Kumiko) Hendrickson of Wenatchee, Washington, and Barb (Denny) VanRy of Belgrade, Montana; my 15 grandkids (Billy, Kim, Wendy, Lonnie, Lynette, Tony, Travis, Willie, Jason, Justin, Jessie, Jake, Robbie, Jeremy and Jeff); 13 great-grandkids; one great-great-granddaughter.
I am preceded in death by my parents Henry and Mae Beckman, Audrey (Dennis) Arnzen, Jean (Dick) Wessel, brothers-in-law Tim Hayhurst and Bud Homan and sister-in-law Tina Beckman.
I would also like to extend a special thank you to everyone at the Gallatin County Rest Home who made me feel "at home" these last few years.
While I admit that I did paraphrase some of her words for grammar, I followed what my grandma had written. I just find that Grandma was being very modest in what she wrote for the world to read. Myself, among others, know just how great of a person "Becky D" was in her 88 years of life. Grandma touched many lives and enjoyed many activities.
Services were held at St. John Vianney Church, in Belgrade, Montana.
