People from the Havre area are invited to a noon gathering of patriotism and nondenominational prayer on Town Square Thursday in observance of the National Day of Prayer.
The gathering will include speeches and collective prayer led by local religious and political figures.
Pastor Tim Zerger said each year “for the past dozen years” Greater Havre Area Ministerial Association has planned the gathering for the first Thursday of May.
Between 100 and 120 show up each year depending on the weather, Zerger said.
A spread of refreshments, with food items donated by each church, will be laid out at 11 a.m., Zerger said.
Gospel and patriotic music will then be performed by Zerger starting at 11:15.
The ceremony will start with an opening prayer by Pastor Kevin Barsotti of the Arc Church, and Pastor Tanner Howard of the First Lutheran Church will give an opening message.
A series collective prayers will then take place for institutions and government at all levels.
Those leading the attendants in prayer will include City Councilman Brian Barrows, Hill County Commissioner Jeff LaVoi, state Rep. Bruce Meyers, R-Box Elder, state Rep. Stephanie Hess, R-Havre, and state Sen. Kris Hansen, R-Havre.
The event will begin at 11 a.m., and admission is free.
