About 250 second-graders from area schools missed out early this week on an opportunity to get small trees they can take home with them to plant.
Snow forced the cancellation of the annual Arbor Day festivities in Pepin Park.
But weather willing, the kids will get a chance again Monday when the TURF — Task Force for Urban Reforestation — Committee will pass out the small trees in jugs.
The kids can plant the trees and watch them as they grow.
Sara Sedlock, longtime TURF volunteer, said she sees trees around the city all the time that came from Arbor Day celebrations.
Activities begin at 9 a.m.
Second-graders from Lincoln-McKinley Primary School and Rocky Boy, Box Elder and St. Jude Thaddeus elementary schools will take part in the activities.
Mayor Tim Solomon and City Council members will be on hand and the public is invited.
