Growing up, Amy Jones and her mother, Lin Deutscher, dreamed of opening their own shop together, filled with the crafts and sewing projects that they collaborated on. Inside Coffee Crafts at 324 2nd St. Suite B, people can see their dream has not only come to fruition but evolved into something even greater.

The owner of Coffee Crafts, Amy Jones, has been a Havre resident since 1994. She is a full-time nurse, wife, mother of two and self-proclaimed coffee aficionado.

A year ago, in the basement of the Virgelle Mercantile, Jones spotted a vintage kitchen buffet that was perfect for an in-home coffee bar, a must-have for any coffee lover. The piece was in desperate need of some tender loving care. With no shortage of elbow grease, Jones transformed it into a piece that she was proud of.

After that project was a success she was hooked.

She began refurbishing vintage furniture, crafting home decor items, and creating embroidered items to sell online. Thus the business of Coffee Crafts was born.

With her creations overtaking the family residence and much positive feedback from the community, she said she knew it was time to open a shop to the public. Jones said she found a location that was a perfect match in theme and location.

"Greg Wood, the owner of 2nd Street Baristas, approached me about using the space in the back of his coffee shop, and it seemed like a perfect fit for me" Jones said.

Jones said that when customers walk inside Coffee Crafts they can expect to find "a well-blended variety of items: shabby, chic and vintage furnishings, distressed mason jars, rustic signs, hand-sewn and crocheted items. And I will keep trying and adding new things all the time."

The majority of the store's inventory will be handcrafted by Jones. While Jones' mother who lives in Minnesota, has managed to contribute by shipping her sewn goods to be featured. There is also a consignment portion of the store where Amy's sister Suzy Wiken has hand painted terracotta pots available for purchase, as well as a few items from other local crafters.

Coffee Crafts opened its doors to the public Saturday. Jones said that due to Coffee Crafts social media presence on Facebook, folks turned out in droves, adding, "I truly have appreciated everybody's support on my new adventure. The community, my family and friends have all been incredible with support, help and ideas and I am very thankful."

Coffee Crafts also takes custom orders. People who have a special request may do so via the Coffee Crafts Facebook page. The page will also keep customers posted on the monthly store hours. Hours will vary depending on Amy's schedule as a nurse but people can also make appointments by calling 390-0218

Coffee Crafts is located in the alley behind 2nd Street Baristas and Havre Hardware and Home.
