Bill was born on April 29, 1942, in Denver, to Vern and Joyce (Gibson) Lindstrand. He was raised in Great Falls, attending school there.
In 1959, Bill entered the U.S. Army, and served until his honorable discharge in 1961. He married Joanne Verploegen in 1967, and the couple made their home in Havre, where Bill worked for Burlington Northern as a conductor for more than 20 years. He retired from the railroad in the early '90s.
Bill enjoyed hunting, especially in the Bear Paws and Missouri Breaks, and fishing, most specifically for walleye. In his earlier years, he enjoyed participating in rodeos. For many years, Bill was an avid supporter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Walleyes Unlimited, rarely missing a banquet. He was a loving husband and father, encouraging his children in their sports endeavors. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Darlene Hope.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne Lindstrand of Havre; his children, Bucky (Carrie) Lindstrand of Great Falls, Rochelle (Kahle) Greenfield of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Greg (Deborah) Aenchbacher of Helena, Alabama, and his beloved grandchildren, Cody, Measha and Danner Lindstrand, Kaeden Greenfield, and Ashley (Daniel) Hill and Megan Aenchbacher; and his sole great-grandson, Holden Hill.
