Senior citizens will browse through special displays of work done by Havre Public Schools students. Then they will be entertained by Havre High School musical groups. And the seniors will dine on a brunch prepared by school cafeteria staff.
All of this will take place at the 26th annual Salute to Seniors at noon, Sunday, at Havre Middle School.
“This is our 26th annual Salute to Seniors,” said Superintendent Andy Carlson.
“This is our way of saying thank you for the support they have shown to our students,” Carlson said.
He said HHS student Alara Vogel will be the master of ceremonies for the event.
Carlson said five or six groups will entertain the seniors at the brunch.
The brunch portion of the eventx starts at 12:30 p.m., he said.
He said the school system owes a lot to the seniors for their support in the form of approving mill levies and for the school system in general, he said.
In the middle school foyer, displays of work students have done in industrial arts and fine arts classes will be on display, he said.
“This will give seniors a chance to look at things they might typically not be able to see,” he said.
Carlson urged anyone who considers themselves to be a senior citizen to show up for the free meal and entertainment.
“We don’t check IDs at the door,” he said.
