From Tee to Green...
Spring began to feel like spring at the end of last week, and given the long, and unusually dry winter, I’m certain the heavy rains that poured through Havre and on the Hi-Line late last week were a welcome sight to local greens keepers.
And now, with the moisture firmly in the ground, at least for the time being, the golf season will really begin in earnest this week.
Tonight and Wednesday night, the men’s league begins at Prairie Farms Golf Course. And with that, the race to the playoffs for the first half of the season begins. The action begins each night at 5:30 p.m., and the season will run through August, leading right up to the playoffs.
Golf leagues at Beaver Creek Golf Course and the Chinook Golf Club are also set to get start soon, and the ladies will tee it up at Prairie Farms on Thursday night’s starting next month.
A reminder to all league secretaries, please have all of your information and standings to me by Sunday evenings so that they can be published in the next From Tee to Green. I am looking for low gross and low net winners, as well as high team for each night, with members of the team listed, as well as updated standings.
And speaking of things kicking into high gear, while the Frontier Conference golf season is a short one in the spring, its biggest tournament will take place this week. The annual Frontier Conference Championships are being held at the Arizona State Karsten Golf Club in Tempe, Arizona, so best of luck to all the Montana State University-Northern golfers in attendance. We will have Northern results from the Frontier Conference tournament in next week’s edition of From Tee to Green.
Finally, the rain didn’t do much for the Chinook, Harlem and Rocky Boy golf teams last week, as tournaments in Fairfield last Friday were washed out, by not just rain, but some pretty impressive amounts of snow.
The Sugarbeeters will be back on the course this week with the Malta Invitational at the Marian Hills Golf Course in Malta.
