Ivar Aageson, Havre High Track
The 2016 track and field season is early, but Havre High sophomore Ivar Aageson is already racking up the accolades. In one week, Aageson won the Cal Wearley Invite pole vault with a vault of 12-6 and the Havre Invite title with a clearance of 12-0. Aageson, who also played on the Pony varsity football and basketball teams this season, also was the top vaulter at last Thursday's triangular with Chinook and North Star, and he's also shining on the Ponies' 1,600-meter relay squad.
Alex Barkus, Havre High Softball
When the Havre Blue Ponies finally got onto the field for their home opener with the Browning Indians, Blue Pony sophomore Alex Barkus wasted little time in taking advantage of the friendly confines of the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field. Last Thursday against Browning, Barkus belted out three hits and drove in four runs as the Ponies blasted the Indians 19-0. Barkus, who pitches and plays several positions for the Ponies, is off to a strong start for HHS, which will play Glasgow Thursday afternoon.
