HPS Foundation scholarships available for high school seniors

Eighteen scholarship opportunities are available for 2016 high school graduates through the Havre Public Schools Education Foundation.

The scholarships are for graduating Havre High School seniors who will be attending an accredited institution this fall. In addition, the Dr. James and Kay Elliott Memorial Scholarship is available to students residing in the Northern Montana Healthcare service area, and the Sons of Norway Heritage Scholarship is available to graduates of North Star High School.

Past HHS graduates continuing their studies this fall are also eligible to apply for the Gabriel Memorial scholarship.

One online scholarship application form is used to apply for all of the scholarships and can be found on the foundation website.

Some of the scholarships require specific criteria to apply. Recipients are chosen by the scholarship donor or an award committee. Deadline for applications is midnight April 1.

The Havre Public Schools Education Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to encourage and support excellence in education by raising, accumulating and disbursing funds to improve, enhance and support the educational opportunities for the students of Havre Public Schools.

Nine directors currently oversee foundation activities: Todd Hanson, president; Rick Sedahl, vice-president; Patti Nault, treasurer; Becky Toth, secretary; Leonard Deppemier and Jack Maloughney.Superintendent Andy Carlson and Havre Public School Board Trustee Ed Hill serve as ex-officio directors, and Cheryl Morse is executive director.
