Dan Gibbons, 52, of Havre, Montana, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at University Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, as a result of complications during surgery.
Dan was born Sept. 17, 1963, in San Bernardino, California, to Floyd and Marjorie Gibbons. The family moved to Havre in 1974 where Dan graduated from Havre High School in 1981.
Dan lived in Salt Lake City for many years and returned to Havre where he lived until his death.
Dan was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend. Dan loved his family and friends, deeply willing to help in any way, there was nothing too big or too small. The Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Dodgers were among Dan's interests, as well as helping with local Special Olympics teams. Dan worked at Havre Day Activity Center for several years and was drawn back recently to continue working with people with disabilities.
Dan was preceded in death by his mother, father, grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Dan will truly be missed by his surviving family, sisters, Debbie Gibbons, Teresa (Richard) Wynia of Havre, Sheila (Harold) Leigland of Great Falls, Susan (John) Finsaas of Missoula; brother, Michael (Cindi) Gibbons of Calimesa, California; nephews Mike (Kim) Gibbons, Adam (Mary) Gibbons, Donnie (Barbara) Gibbons, Carl (Katy) Wynia, Mark Leigland, Trevor and Tommy Finsaas; nieces, Becky Wynia, Kristina, Amy and Lennae Finsaas; great-nephews and nieces, Jordon, Anthony, Shaylee, Sydnie, Adyen; uncle, Jim George of Billings; aunt, Pat Henry from Morgantown, West Virginia; and all his friends.
Dan's wit and sarcasm will also be missed by his surviving aunt, uncle, many nephews and nieces, great-nephews and nieces, as well as many close friends.
Graveside memorial services are being held April 11, at 10 a.m. at Highland Cemetery with reception to follow at the Havre TownHouse Inn.
