Pearl Hamilton was born July 25, 1913, and died March 22, 2016.
Pearl was blessed with a long and wonderful life filled with love, humor and family. She grew up during the homestead days as the fourth child of six siblings north of Gildford, Montana. She graduated from Gildford High School in 1929 enjoying reading and basketball. She played on the Hi-Line championship team.
She married Lloyd Hamilton in 1939 and they had six children. They lived and farmed north of Chinook but later sold and moved into town in 1954 so the children could be closer to school. Pearl went to work for Chinook High School as a custodian. Later, she worked at Gambles Hardware.
Pearl lead an active life taking morning walks with friends, participating in Pleasant View Club activities and working overtime in her church, Zion Lutheran Church. She took on many duties at the church, such as teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and serving as LWML secretary.
She also enjoyed gardening in her flower and vegetable gardens and cooking for her friends and family. Anyone who has ever eaten one of her meals will attest to what a great cook she was! She said that her secret to longevity was good nutritious food, regular exercise, a positive attitude, and being surrounded by family and friends.
Pearl sold her home and moved into a Grande Villa apartment in 1993 and into the Lloyd Sweet Home in 2015.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Lloyd, who passed away in 1973.
Pearl said that one of the most amazing events in her life was that she raised six children who are all doing well. She is survived by all six of her children: Stanley (Martha) Hamilton of Bozeman, Gloria (Bill) Brinkman of Lakeside, Carol (Ron) Blake of Edmonds, Washington, Aaron (Stacey) Hamilton of Great Falls, Miles (Lynn) Hamilton of Havre and Brian (Sue) Hamilton of Woodinville, Washington, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Please join us for a celebration of life on Saturday, March 26, at 10:30 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Chinook. In lieu of flowers, please give donations to Zion Lutheran Church or the Sweet Home in Pearl's name.
