Donald Julian Rocks, 84, peacefully passed on to our Lord on the morning of March 17, 2016, in Mesquite, Nevada, with family at his side.
Don is survived by his loving and devoted wife and our mother, Marlene Rocks; six children in order of birth: Randy, Kim, Kevin, Myron (Bunky), Marla and Aaron. Don also has two younger sisters, Lorraine and Delores; as well as nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Don was born on Aug. 20, 1931, on the family farm south of Joplin, Montana. He married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Kay Meldrum, on Feb. 26, 1952. They had been together ever since.
Don was a proud military veteran serving at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, as well as other locations in Texas and Arizona. After serving in the U.S. Air Force for three years, he and Marlene settled in and took over the family farm in 1954 and began raising their family there.
After Don and Marlene's retirement from farming in 1999 they began spending their winters in Mesquite and really loved it there.
Don's ultimate joys in life were farming (he was always a gambling man), his afternoon walks, playing cards and spending all the time he could with his vast and cherished family.
Cause of death was complications from a recent heart attack. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials to dad may be sent to your favorite charity or cause in the Chester-Joplin area.
A celebration of Don's life will be announced at a later date.
