Accused assaulter denied bail reduction

Tyler The Boy, who is accused of stabbing his girlfriend and beating her with a hammer, was denied release on his own recognizance Monday morning in state District Court.

The Boy’s public defender Randy Randolph asked the court to release The Boy to stay with his mother. Randolph told the court The Boy has a potential job offer and that there are no other adults in the home.

The state, represented by Hill County Deputy Attorney Ryan Mickelson, objected to any bail reduction, after which the court reviewed The Boy’s criminal history.

The court minutes said the court denied The Boy bail reduction having taken into consideration the underlying allegations, strong evidence against him in this case, his history of violations, and The Boy’s alleged abuse of alcohol and drugs.

The Boy is charged with with two felony counts of assault with a weapon, three misdemeanor counts of partner or family member assault and a criminal trespass misdemeanor. The charges were brought against him after his girlfriend was hospitalized and an employee reported a possible assault. The Boy’s bail is $25,000.
