Dane Warp named Class A All-State for a third straight season
The Havre High boys basketball team may not have brought home a trophy from the Class A state tournament, but after winning their first divisional championship in 12 years, the Blue Ponies still had plenty to be proud of in 2015-16.
And, following the release of the 2015-16 Central A All-Conference and Class A All-State teams, Havre has even more to celebrate about this past season on the hardwood.
For the third straight year, Dane Warp earned both All-Conference and All-State honors for HHS. Warp, who started every game of his incredible career playing for the Ponies, led all of Class A in scoring this past season, with an average of 25.72 points per game. The senior averaged 29 points per game to help lead Havre to the Eastern A title and also averaged 30 points and eight rebounds per game at the state tournament, where HHS finished fourth. During his incredible career, Warp scored more than 2,000 points and tallied more than 1,000 rebounds.
Warp, who was the only Havre player to earn First-Team All-Conference honors, was joined on the team by Ladan Ricketts of Livingston, Morgan Eitel of Belgrade, Dawson Fowler of Belgrade and Ryan Loring of Browning. Everyone on the First Team earned All-State honors except for Loring.
While Warp was certainly a big part of Havre's success this past season, he couldn't have gotten the Ponies as far as he did without the help of Jerod Boles and Nate Rismon, who both earned Second-Team All-Conference honors.
Boles was eighth in the conference in scoring this season with an average of 9.44 points per game. He also had a notable three-game performance at the Eastern A, averaging more than 15 points per game and connecting on better than 50 percent of his shots from 3-point range. He also had a stellar 26-point outing in a win over Laurel at the state tournament in loser-out action.
Rismon finished his final season as a Pony with a scoring average of 7.92 points per game. Yet, in addition to being one of better scorers in the conference, Rismon was also one the league's best defenders.
The rest of the Central A Second Team features Jordan Lehrer of Livingston, Tristan Redhorn of Browning and Hunter Errecart of Lewistown. The other members of the All-State team are Gavin Gundlach of Miles City, Jarod Asche of Glendive, Jacob Hadley of Billings Central, Darnell LeftHand of Hardin, Matthew Rensvold and Payton Lefthand of Polson, Austin Means of Frenchtown, Derek Kastella of Whitefish, Tanner Haverfield of Dillon, Nate McGree of Butte Central, Carter Kears of Hamilton and Troy Anderson of Dillon.
