The Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line will be hosting an event Wednesday evening where families can buy a $25 dinner, bid on horse races and have a chance to win a backyard grill.
Executive Director Krista Solomon said “Night at the Races” is an event to help raise money for the club's building expansion.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and is planned to last two hours. The $25 cover charge will buy a package deal of a dinner for a family of up to six, divulge $25 in “funny money” and three ticket entries for the chance to win the barbecue grill.
Individual tickets are $10, and that includes as much in funny money and one ticket entry for a chance to win the grill.
Items that will be available for bidding include a Beaver Creek golf course 10-round punch card, a birthday party with local firefighters at the Havre Fire Department, an exclusive fishing trip donated by Walleyes Unlimited, a plane tour over the Havre area donated by Doug and Darla Kaercher, robots donated by Bear Paw Technologies.
Other items that can be won include Pizza Hut, Hi-Line Lanes and McDonald’s gift certificates.
The six pre-recorded horse races that will be shown will have been filmed in Florida. Nobody, including Boys & Girls Club staff, will have knowledge of the outcome. Audiences will actively participate, using their “funny money” to bet on the races.
With their winnings they will be able bid on many family friendly auction items.
