A front-page story in Wednesday’s edition of the Havre Daily News reported that U.S. Border Patrol Havre Sector Public Affairs Agent Melissa Hart confirmed reports that the General Services Administration detected lead in the water of the Havre Sector Headquarters building, prompting Border Patrol headquarters officials to temporarily relocate. Agent Hart said in the afternoon that she neither said lead was detected in the water or confirmed it.
Border Patrol issued a press release Tuesday afternoon which said, “GSA conducted standard spot air quality testing … Initial test results indicated the presence of lead in a small portion of the building.”
When asked where the lead is coming from, Hart said she could not add anything that wasn’t in the press release.
