Danny Lynn Clements, 67, of Stevensville passed away leap year Feb. 29, 2016.
He was born Dec. 2, 1948, during a leap year, in Spirit Lake, Idaho. His family later moved to Stevensville, Montana, where he attended Stevensville schools and graduated from Stevensville High School. While in school he excelled in football, baseball, basketball and other sports.
After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army Reserves and remained active while working as a cement finisher, drove mining trucks and worked in construction.
His love of hunting and fishing began as a young boy, and he enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing throughout Montana with his family. As well as being an avid sports participant, Danny was always actively involved in his sons' sports. He also enjoyed watching sports and his favorite football team, the 49ers, with his sons and friends.
Danny married Linda Holden in 1969. They had one son, Shawn. They later divorced but remained friends until his death. He married Carla Rae Green in 1983 and remained married until her passing in 2005. He later was blessed with a close relationship with Billie Ann Barrington and her family.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Doris Clements, and his wife, Carla Rae.
He is survived by three sons, Shawn (Kimi) Wetzel, Chris and Chae Clements; two grandsons, Keegan and Sheldon; and one granddaughter, Kiahna; as well as his girlfriend, Billie Ann Barrington. Also surviving are one brother, Warren (Patricia) of Missoula, Montana; and three sisters, Bonnie (Jim) Duffin of Nevada; Carleen (Myron) Masterson of Calgary, Canada, and Maureen Mansfield, Calgary, Canada; sister-in-law, Ruth (Ed) Hawley plus numerous nieces, nephews and very dear friends.
Danny will always be remembered as a beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, as well as a cherished friend to many.
Throughout Danny's life, he made many friends while working construction and traveling throughout the state. It is often said about him that if he didn't know someone where he went, he would have many friends before he left. Most became lifelong friends that always looked forward to seeing him. His childhood friends remained by his side until his passing.
They, along with the others, considered Danny a legend and loved him dearly. He reached out to people of all ages with his love and compassion, always available to help out wherever he could. Danny would travel miles out of his way to see people who were elderly or in need and extend his huge heart where he could. Everyone has at least one "Danny story" and some defied all reality, yet all are treasures.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 1 p.m., at the Clark Fork Church, 2811 Latimer St., in Missoula. A reception will follow after the service. Family and friends are also invited to celebrate his life with shared stories at 1017 Carla Rae Lane in Stevensville later in the afternoon. He will be interred with his immediate family present.
A special thank-you to the caring and dedicated doctors and staff at St. Pat's Hospital. So many went beyond normal care for Danny during his stay there.
Cremation was under the care of Garden City Funeral Home & Crematory.
